Capturing memories (9) and an update!

Okay so this entry is going to be a little lengthy on account of me not posting lately (so feel free to skim or not read at all, although it would make me happy if you read it. :)).

I don't if anyone else has noticed, but the layout for blogspot has changed and it is really confusing, I am not a very techy person so as soon as I started to try and figure out how to work it, I got a headache and closed out of it. But I figured I would have to get around to figuring it it at some point...so after taking an aspirin and spending half an hour I figured it out. :)

Anyways...Wednesday I had my "Speak with a returnee", it wasn't that helpful but hearing more about Paraguay made me even more excited than I already was! Crazy right? I didn't think it was possible, but the more I learn about Paraguay the more anxious I get! And guess what? I leave in 9 days!...But who's counting right? Oh right, that would be me! :D

In other news, I got my visa back from the consulate which is a relief!

Last night (Saturday) I had my going away party with a bunch of close family and friends. Plus a bunch of people that I had seen before. I feel like they might have just come for the free food because some of them didn't even talk to me...but the ones who did came up to me and were like "Oh you are going to have so much fun! Are you excited? You must be excited! Oh my goodness your mother is going to miss you so much!" A couple things about this irk me:
A: I don't know who you are, please don't hug me, and go away...now.
B: Is that a serious question? or can you not think of anything else to say? Of course I am excited! Why else would I be okay with leaving my family and friends and going to a foreign place for 6 months? Because it isn't because I am not excited. And every single person that came asked me that (75 people just in case you were wondering). Overall though, it was a very good night. :)

I teach dance to little kids and every Sunday all the teachers get together to discuss the following week's classes. Since today was my last meeting before I leave, the other teachers gave me a journal and the first entry was a letter they had written me. It was a very sweet gesture. I am going to miss them so much. :'(

Oh and speaking of KU( the dance company) and sweet, last night at my party the director of the program got everyone together in my living room and awarded me with my 10 year star necklace. My 10 year "anniversary" if you will, would have been this May, but guess what, I won't be here, so they surprised me with it and it was all very wonderful and I teared up a bit.
And then I went out for ice cream with my friends. Did you know they make Peach ice cream? It is pretty good. :)

Okay that's it. If you actually read it, thanks, I think you are nice. :) and if you didn't...well then you wouldn't be reading this...so...

capturing Memories! (6) and an update

So it has been a while since I updated my blog...but now I am back. :) I would like to tell you that I have been really busy and that is why I haven't been writing...but...I haven't been. Since I got out of school I have spent my days sleeping and being lazy.
Anyways...now to get you all caught up to speed on what I have been doing besides sleeping:
My mom bought me this B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L suitcase that I am in love with. :) I also got my second round of shots which included a TB test. :0 It was miserable. I am in the process of applying for my visa right now...I still have an online class to finnish along with a bizzilion other things I have to get done before I leave. And that's pretty much it. :)

Capturing Memories! (5) and an update

As some of you may know I hate needles. Actually, it's more of an irrational fear...anyways, in most of South America, yellow fever, rabies, and typhoid are very prevalent and since my parents are little paranoid, I got my first round of shots today and in 1 week I have to get another set of shots and a TB test.
Unfortunately the shots have some minor side effects: headaches, nausea, fever, dizzieness...death...I think I got some of my parents paranoia because I am now afraid that I am going to die.
Anyways, that's it for now...well almost...

Capturing Memories! (3)

A little story...
As some of you may know I live in Tucson, Arizona and today marks the 1 year anniversary of the the January 8th shooting. My sister and I went down to the University tonight where a candle light vigil was held for all of the victims of the shooting. It was such a wonderful experience.
Ever since the shooting, Tucson has come together as a community and I feel so lucky to live in such a great community.

and now for Capturing Memories...

Capturing Memories!

Starting tomorrow (January 6th) I will be doing something called "Capturing Memories". I will be posting one or two pictures each day for the entire month before I leave. The posts will be only the pictures, with no explanation or stories. The photos will be of people, places, and things that I am going to miss while abroad. I think it's a great way to think about all the little things that I am going to miss while in Paraguay. :)
